This extremely valuable spice in the health --- is a non expensive remedy all around the world.Turmeric has been used in many ways from a simple concoction of brewed root that has been pounded with a mortar & pestle & sweetened with honey, or applied to a skin cancer. Other benefits are reported all over the internet & various health magazines, such as the following:-anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant.
We personally use Turmeric in our cooking nearly everyday, we simply grate it & add to any many dishes, whether it be vegetarian, fish or chicken, Turmeric adds a lovely colour to any of these meals.
Another favourite meal that we like to make is wrapping our prepared food, such as fresh Tasmanian Salmon which I slice very thinly & then mix well with coconut oil & salt, sometimes I add fresh sliced mango. I wrap this mixture in either cabbage, banana or Turmeric leaves. When the wrapping is finished, to give a smokey flavour I place about 2 tbsps of cold pressed olive oil into the bottom of a heavy based saucepan & place the wraps into it & keep on a very low heat on about 1 for about 30mins. The salmon when cooked in this way coated in the coconut oil seems to always turn out so moist. I hope you to enjoy this delicious way of cooking too.
